STAR TREK: NEXT GEN

Back in 2019, when meme culture was hitting warp speed, we got the green light from CBS to boldly go where no merch has gone before. As longtime Trekkies with a soft spot for absurdity and pop culture crossovers, we teamed up with illustrator and collaborator Ciera Lagges to build a collection that honored Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The Artwork

When we teamed up with artist Ciera Lagges, our mission was clear: capture the deep cuts, the meme-worthy moments, and the iconic TNG scenes that every Trekkie holds close to their heart.

The Enterprise -  The flagship itself, captured mid-warp with bold, graphic energy. Whether printed across a varsity jacket or a raglan tee, it’s a striking tribute to the ship that carried Picard and crew boldly where no one has gone before.

Prepare for Ramming Speed! - Worf fans, this one’s for you. There is impulse speed, and warp speeds but for Worf in Star Trek: First Contact we learn about Ramming Speed.  A speed that literally does not exist but it's still fierce, and hilarious, this design immortalizes the Klingon’s battle-ready attitude.

The Legendary Picard Facepalm - The meme that launched a thousand reaction GIFs became wearable. Because some days, words just aren’t enough.

There Are Four Lights - Minimalist, bold, and instantly iconic, this design is a nod to one of TNG’s most powerful episodes. We're our fearless Captain Jean-Luc Picard shows his unwavering resolve to torture and manipulation.

Locutus of Borg Resistance is futile - Every Trekkie remembers the chilling moment our beloved captain was assimilated and it felt like all hope was lost. But let’s be honest.....he was also the coolest-looking Borg.

Make It So - Every captain needs his iconic catch phrase and this one in our opinion is it.  Two words. Infinite authority. Printed in bold graphics against the iconic Starfleet delta.  Simple but boldly Star Trek.

Guile -  Commander Riker: "You're outmanned, you're outgunned, you're out-equipped. What else have you got?" followed by Worf's simple response: "Guile".   That's it.  That's the shirt.

Resistance Is Futile Posters

In collaboration with Alex Pearson, we set out to create Star Trek posters that were both iconic and home-decor friendly. As a formally trained interior designer, I always found it tricky to track down high-quality nerd art that felt at home on adult walls. You want to celebrate your fandom without it looking like a dorm room throwback. These posters were designed to strike that balance bold, stylish, and unmistakably Trek.

The Licensing Process

By the time this project came around, we’d already worked with licenses like Final Space and Cartoon Network’s Regular Show, so network notes and approval rounds weren’t new to us. What was new was the scale and detail of the process. From submission to final approval, this collection took nearly six months. Most of the notes we received were straightforward branding adjustments (like tweaking the hang tag design), but it was also our first time working with actor likenesses, which added a whole new layer of review. Navigating that process gave us a much deeper appreciation for how carefully these properties are protected and how much goes into making sure everything feels authentic and respectful to the franchise and actors. And in the end, we were thrilled to have Sir Patrick Stewart and Michael Dorn lend their presence to this collection.

Vulcan Salute Collab

In late 2019, the network approached us with a unique request: design a new bomber jacket to be gifted to Pharrell Williams who, as we were told, is a massive Trekkie. The result was the Vulcan Salute bomber jacket, a standout piece that quickly became a proud addition to the collection.

Esquire Feature

As a small brand, we’d gotten used to flying under the radar when it came to press coverage. So being featured in Esquire was nothing short of surreal and easily one of the highlights of my product development career. The article, “The Best Star Trek Merch You’ll Actually Want to Wear,” spotlighted our Star Trek: The Next Generation collection as a stylish, fandom-driven project that stood out from the pack. Seeing our work recognized in a major style publication validated all the hard work, late nights, and creative risks that went into it.

"Things are only impossible until they are not."     Captain Picard

Looking back, the Star Trek: The Next Generation collection was one of the most ambitious and rewarding projects we’ve ever tackled, from navigating approvals to collaborating with incredible artists, and even seeing the work featured in Esquire. It was a true labor of love, fueled by our own Trekkie hearts and the support of a fandom that spans galaxies. Thanks for coming along on this retrospective, and for letting us share a little behind-the-scenes look at a collection that meant so much to us. Until next time. Live long and prosper.
